We Are Here To Hear & Heal Your Sickness.
About Us
In June 2002, HONEYZZ was encouraged to form a support group, spearheaded by a former Health promotion worker (Dorothy C) and, together with 7 other members the support group was formed.
The target group of clients was chosen in response (or lack of response) to the rapidly increasing incidences of diabetes within the African descent communities in Huddersfield, especially within this elderly ‘community of interest’.
Areas we cover
We cover Kirklees in West Yorkshire, and primarily a 3 mile radius of Huddersfield town centre.
Our Values
The Honeyzz Ethos is based on a clear idea -to encourage the sharing of information among its readers rather than give advice or perform any of the functions of healthcare professionals. Diabetes Education within Honeyzz is the means of moving our members along a pathway from ignorance (of the condition) to self management and self-care…
Governance
It is run as an unincorporated body of dedicated management committee members, responsible for overseeing and directing all of the activities of the organisation. The members of the management committee who volunteer their time and expertise to ensure the governance and standards are maintained at all times.
Aims
1) to raise awareness and understanding of diabetes to those members with low or no knowledge of the condition.
2) to deliver awareness, learning and empowerment directly to the members, via a non-medical/non-clinical programme.
Objectives
1) To promote and improve the education, health and well being of the ethnic minority communities of Kirklees, by tackling gaps in health information, knowledge and skills relating to diabetes.
2) To embark on projects designed to improve the quality of life of its members and that of the wider community.
3) To work closely with other associate health professionals for the development and enhancement of health services to members.
